Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida is one of our favorite charities.
Each year, over 1,600 families stay at one of two Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando while their critically ill children receive medical treatment at local hospitals.
We had a great day at the annual golf tournament, held at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge. The event was a success (not to mention fun) and raised almost $150,000 for the charity.
Today, the Orlando Business Journal published its list of Top Philanthropic Companies, evaluated by contributions paid out to charitable organizations in 2012. RLH sits among companies at the top half of the list at #18, having contributed just over $40,000 and 300 employee volunteer hours to our favorite charities. Number one on the list was Walt Disney World Resort, which contributed $30 million and 230,000 hours to charitable organizations.
At RLH, we tend to “get our hands dirty” for the charities we support. This year, Helpful Hands’ 2nd Annual “Evening Under the Stars” fundraiser was held at the home of our president, Richard Haines. Our team constructed a dance floor and stage on the property, where a live band played and everyone enjoyed dancing under the stars.
We’d like to extend a big Thank You to supporters of the evening. Together, we raised almost $25,000 for Helpful Hands.
Helpful Hands is a charity that looks to provide opportunities for children to develop life skills, to experience life equal to their peers, and to provide encouragement during a time in their lives when it is most needed. The charity has sponsored children to attend the Oviedo Police Department’s Summer Camp and has joined with the Steinway Society for its annual Piano Gifting, giving talented children their first piano and lessons.
